Maldives

Lauren and Kenny are planning their delayed honeymoon to celebrate their one year anniversary in October.

They will be staying at the Sheraton Grand Resort, stay tuned for an update.

Sheraton Half Moon

Getting to the Maldives was an adventure by itself. By the time we arrived at the resort, we had taken three flights and one boat, and that journey alone made the destination feel earned. What you do not fully realize until you are there is that once you arrive at a Maldives resort, you are there. There is no popping out to explore nearby towns or hopping between places. The resort becomes your entire world until departure day.

For anyone who loves a true beach vacation where the goal is to slow down and settle in, this is exactly what makes the Maldives so special. And it is what made our stay at the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa such a great fit for us.

One thing that makes this resort unique is how accessible it is. It is one of the few resorts you can reach by boat rather than a seaplane, which made arrival and departure feel much easier and more relaxed. It is also one of the more genuinely kid friendly resorts in the Maldives, which is not always easy to find.

What stood out most during our stay was the staff. Every detail felt thought through, and everyone we interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Each guest is assigned a personal trip concierge who handles excursion bookings, answers questions, and helps with anything that comes up during your stay. It removes the friction from planning and lets you fully settle into vacation mode.

Once we arrived, the days stopped being about logistics and started being about rest. No schedules. No rushing. Just being present in one place, knowing everything you need is already taken care of.

One thing worth remembering about the Maldives is the weather. Like anywhere tropical, it has a rainy season. Unfortunately, our timing landed right on the edge of it. We arrived just before the rainy season was supposed to start, and this year it showed up early.

Even so, the rain there is not what most people expect. When it rains, it usually lasts only a few hours and then clears up. We still had plenty of sunshine throughout the day to enjoy the beaches, get in the water, snorkel, and spend time watching the resort’s surprisingly friendly shark cruise through the lagoon. The weather never felt like it took away from the experience, just a reminder that the Maldives is still very much a real, living tropical environment.
